New Music Friday: Liminal by Some Faith

Pittsburgh duo Some Faith is the new soundtrack for the fall and Halloween season. The band’s newest track, Liminal, is a dark, synth-pop dream for lovers of eerie and ominous music. Indigo Baloch and Brian Sikes Howe have reportedly been working on music together since 2019 and have already created an entire debut album for the band. Liminal is the duo’s second single to be released and the sister to the band’s first single, The Pain Has a Purpose. Both songs have the same dark elements and edgy synth components that create such a distinct sound for the band. Baloch expresses her inner conflict with forgiveness, singing “Is forgiveness liminal / Just a path to what you don’t know / So take a leap into the unknown / What’s the worst if you let it go.” Sikes produces the track behind Baloch’s voice flawlessly and integrates small synth details that put the song on another level. Both Baloch and Sikes star in the track’s music video that was filmed at The Mr. Roboto Project in Pittsburgh’s Bloomfield neighborhood. Baloch battles whether she should forgive someone who is possessed, and Sikes performs an exorcism to expel the demon. Ultimately, Baloch becomes possessed herself, turning dark and pupil-less.

Even with only two songs and one music video, Some Faith proves they put careful thought into the cohesiveness of their sound and image. Fans can tell every aspect of the band is deliberate. The band has already accumulated over 450 followers on Instagram (@somefaith666) since their first post on August 11. Some Faith is not only a band to keep an eye on, but also a band full of surprises that will keep you on the edge of your seat.
