Putting One Foot In Front of the Other - LIINES’ New Single “Keep on Going” Encourages People to Look Ahead

Manchester three-piece LIINES have blown people away with their newest upbeat single, “Keep on Going.” The song, released September 3rd, is two minutes of nonstop energy and catchy guitar licks that captivate the listener. The song is almost hard to turn off or listen to only once.

The single slowly builds, and more elements are added as the song progresses. The band starts with a drum beat that utilizes a lot of floor tom. Next, guitar is added in every other measure. Crunchy, distorted bass comes in afterwards to complete the band’s full sound. It doesn’t stop there though; LIINES keeps listeners on their toes by switching up the main riff and adding hi-hat and cymbals into the drum part. It’s a slight variation of the original riff, but it creates a much fuller and punchier sound that is associated with upbeat punk songs. The riff continues, and the short and sweet lyrics “Keep on going / Keep with me” are added overtop. While the lyrics are quite simple, they carry an important meaning that the band wants their listeners to hear.

“‘Keep on Going’ is a call to arms,” began singer and guitarist Zoe McVeigh. “The song is almost like a mantra – a chant. A reminder to put one foot in front of the other because that’s all you can really do.”

LIINES is currently working on their second album, due to come out in late 2022. While they have enjoyed writing and recording new music the past few months, they couldn’t wait any longer to release new music. The band felt that “Keep on Going” was the perfect song to hold them over until their album release, according to drummer Leila O’Sullivan.

“Whilst being short and sweet, ‘Keep on Going’ really feels like the right message as we all come out from an awful 18 months and looking ahead to better times,” said O’Sullivan.

You can find “Keep on Going” on all major streaming platforms, or watch the band perform the song live at one of their upcoming shows this fall:
